ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE LAND

The Faunt Piano Studio is located on the unceded ancestral and traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta which includes the Siksika, Piikuni, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley First Nations. Southern Alberta is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. 

The Faunt Piano Studio is situated on land adjacent to where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is “Moh’kins’tsis”.
 
I respectfully acknowledge the oral traditions of the peoples of these Nations and acknowledge them as the past, present and future caretakers of this land. I acknowledge that we all have a collective responsibility to this place, its peoples' histories, rights and presence.  I support and am committed to the "Calls to Action" from the Truth and Reconciliation Committee on Indian Residential Schools: to never forget, to hold governments and colonial forces to account, to seek redress and healing for injustice. I recognize the MMIWG2S crisis and commit to being a part of the change needed to create a new reality where Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people are safe and live in dignity.
